Out of State College comes another excellent band to lead us into the '90's. A.M. Prophecy has forged a name for themselves at
Penn State and it's no wonder. abrAsion features 12 band compositions, all of which are interesting and
several are outstanding. Just as I was enjoying the CD, however, A.M. Prophecy got political. "Mother Earth" is about man's
misuse of the planet, specifically the destruction of forests. In the end, evil man is chastised for stealing "from the once
blue sky." This killer is, "Mother Earth" is probably the best song, musically, on the disc. My advice, ignore the preaching
and enjoy the tune. The rest of the songs have points to be made, but subtlety prevails. Standouts are "Typical", "Left There"
and "Coincide". The bitter and funny "Cover Band Blues" is a must listen for any band pursuing their own thing. With only a
slight whiff of Seattle, A.M. Prophecy has made a very good album. If there is justice, abrAsion deserves a
huge audience. |
